A medical alert system is a great way for the elderly and for the disabled to feel safe. It also gives family members and friends the peace of mind of knowing that their elderly and disabled loved ones will not feel helpless if they have an emergency. Someone using a medical alert system can simply trigger the alarm if they fall, experience pain or need help quickly. When a person sounds the medical alarm system, an operator will ask if the individual needs help or if it was a false alarm.
False alarms do occur, and this is okay. There are no penalties for accidentally sounding the alarms. Nobody will be dispatched to the person’s home if the person responds and lets the operator know that it was a false alarm. If the operator does not get a response from the individual who sounded the alarm, the operator will dispatch medical help to the person’s location to provide emergency care as quickly as possible. There is no need to call 911 or anyone else for help. Help will be on the way.
